Will Kim Tae Ri make another surprising transformation into a talented singer?
On Wednesday, Sports Chosun reported that Kim Tae Ri was cast in the new webtoon-based drama Jeong Nyeon (literal title). The actress’ agency responded, “It’s one of the projects Kim Tae Ri is reviewing.”
Jeong Nyeon is a historical drama about Jeong Nyeon, who has no money or education but a gifted set of pipes. She enters a women-only theater company, hoping to become rich.
If Kim Tae Ri joins the series, she’ll step into the role of Yoon Jeong Nyeon. She’s a newbie in Maeranguk Theater Company who learns the Korean traditional theater with music so she’ll become rich one day.
Webtoonist Namon revealed that she was inspired by Kim Tae Ri’s role in the hit movie The Handmaiden in creating the early days of Yoon Jeong Nyeon, making Kim Tae Ri the most-wanted actress among the original webtoon fans.
Meanwhile, Jeong Nyeon is produced by Studio N, a subsidiary of Naver Webtoon, and will begin filming in the second half of next year.
