MBC slammed SBS after the latter network abruptly announced programming changes that forced two of Im Soo Hyang’s upcoming dramas to air around the same time on different channels.
Yesterday, MBC confirmed the May 27th premiere of its new Friday-Saturday drama Doctor Lawyer (literal title), starring So Ji Sub, Shin Sung Rok, and Im Soo Hyang. But soon, SBS also announced its plan to air its Monday-Tuesday drama, From Today We Are (literal title), in May starring the same actress and Sung Hoon.
MBC stated, “Even after knowing that Doctor Lawyer is currently in the works with the confirmed date of premiere, SBS has caused a situation where the lead actress will appear on both stations around the same time. Even taking into account SBS’s pitiful situation, this is incomprehensible.”
The network continued, “Doctor Lawyer has changed its schedule because From Today We Are postponed its programming and filming schedule. Nevertheless, we’ve been going along with their delays since it started its production first.”
However, SBS is saying that “there is no problem.” This is their statement: “As a follow-up of Business Proposal, we originally planned to premiere on April 11th. But due to the production company Group8’s situation, we had to push back the premiere to May.”
SBS added, “However, From Today We Are has a different premiere date, airing date and time, and genre from the one released on MBC. So we believe that there shouldn’t be any problem.”
