DIA’s Chaeyeon will star opposite Yook Sungjae in the new romance drama The Golden Spoon (literal title).
Based on the webtoon of the same name, The Golden Spoon tells the story of a child who was born into a poor family. Soon, he gets his hands on a magical golden spoon that allows him to switch lives with his rich friend. The story asks the question of whether it’s possible to exchange family for money and which choice would bring the most happiness.
Chaeyeon will play the female lead Na Joo Hee, the daughter of a conglomerate family who is both just and honest. Na Joo Hee is at the center of a love triangle with Lee Sung Cheon, played by Yook Sungjae, and Hwang Tae Yong.
After making her acting debut in tvN drama Drinking Solo, Chaeyeon has built up a solid filmography with various projects like 109 Strange Things and My First First Love. Recently, she tried a historical genre for the first time with The King’s Affection, once again proving herself as a skilled actress. With The Golden Spoon, she’ll be working with The King’s Affection director Song Hyun Wook.
Meanwhile, The Golden Spoon comes from The King’s Affection and Another Miss Oh director Song Hyun Wook and Prime Minister and I and Winter Sonata writers Yoon Eun Kyung and Kim Eun Hee. The show will premiere this summer as a follow-up of Doctor Lawyer.
