Sunmi and Tiffany (Tiffany Young) will be joining Mnet’s new survival show, Girls Planet 999.
According to SPOTVTNEWS, Sunmi and Tiffany will be joining the new Korea-China-Japan project Girls Planet 999 as the “K-pop Masters.” As “the masters,” the two singers will become the applicants’ wannabe and mentors. Fulling using their know-how, Sunmi and Tiffany will be supporting 99 girls’ journey to the top.
Sunmi and Tiffany have one thing in common: they were members of girl groups (Wonder Girls and Girls’ Generation) representing K-pop. After wrapping up their successful group activities, they started a new chapter as a solo singer and musical actress, showing off an irreplaceable presence in the K-pop scene.
In the trailer released by Mnet today, Yeo Jin Gu, the show’s host, introduced them as “the leaders of K-pop.” “My friends are crazy about them, and I, too, am a great fan of them. I was glad that they would be with me throughout this journey. They already have a great sense of responsibility,” he added.
In the case of Sunmi, she has already shown off her potential as a mentor in JTBC show Sing Again. Naturally, expectations for her performance in Girls Planet 999, a survival show for girl groups, her specialty, are high.
Meanwhile, Girls Planet 999 depicts the journey of the girls from three different cultures. They will harmonize and grow together in a space called “Girls Planet” for K-pop to find the best combination. The show will premiere in August.
