Actress Seo Shin Ae has been pointed as the victim of (G)I-DLE’s Soojin’s school bullying. Soon after the report, the actress personally took her Instagram to leave a cryptic message, making headlines.
Earlier on Feb 20, suspicions over Soojin’s school violence has swept online communities. With this scandal, a past article posted on an online community that claimed Soojin verbally abused A, a former child actor, has resurfaced.
Though A wasn’t mentioned by her name, words like “bbang-ggu-ddong-ggu” (buzzword from High Kick Through the Roof) and the name of the middle school had netizens speculate A to be actress Seo Shin Ae. Later on Feb 22, Seo left a cryptic message on her Instagram, “None of your excuse,” further amplifying suspicions.
In 2012, Seo confessed that she was a victim of school violence when she was in elementary and middle school. At the time, she shared, “When I tried to do something, they would mock me saying ‘Oh, the celeb has come’ call me with things like ‘bagger.'”
Since then, she starred in KBS’s special drama SOS – Save Our School and was praised for her realistic portrayal of youth psychology, such as using violence against close friends to win the favor of the perpetrators. She also participated in works that dealt with school violence issues, such as JTBC’s Solomon’s Perjury and web-drama Aim High. Seo also became an ambassador for the campaign of eradicating school violence by the National Police Agency in 2013.
After the report of her being the victim of Soojin’s bullying hit the wire, Seo Shin Ae’s agency PARK+ Entertainment stated that they are currently checking into the facts and release an official position after talking with the actress herself.
