It generates a buzz for IZ*ONE whether to extend their activities before their contract comes to an end by April. There is no denying that IZ*ONE’s popularity has been exploding both in Korea and Japan since their debut. Fans expressed hopes that IZ*ONE shouldn’t disband.
In January, CJ ENM, reportedly, got in touch with the agencies of some of the IZ*ONE members to discuss the contract. But it is not confirmed if they will resume their activities. If the contract extension pushes through, IZ*ONE will be the first Produce group debuted through Mnet’s “Produce Series. to do so.
IZ*ONE was formed through the Mnet survival show Produce 48. The girl group set the highest cumulative record sales in 2020. This includes the last year’s sales for IZ*ONE’s first studio album BLOOM*IZ, third mini-album Oneiric Diary, and their fourth mini-album One-reeler / Act IV.
Despite the vote-rigging controversy of the Produce 101 series, activities of IZ*ONE proceeded as planned last year. Their online concert in March will be the last for IZ*ONE if there won’t be a contract extension. It captures the attention of fans whether IZ*ONE will continue as a group or the members would go their own paths.
