The dream team expressed their pride in their drama LUCA: The Beginning, raising expectations.
tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama LUCA: The Beginning (hereinafter referred to as LUCA) held its press conference on Jan 27. Kim Rae Won, Lee Da Hee, Kim Sung Oh and director Kim Hong Sun attended the event.
LUCA is a spectacular chase action drama about Ji Oh, who is chased by mysterious figures because of his special power, and detective Gu Reum, the only person who remembers him, joining forces to oppose the gigantic conspiracy.
Voice and The Guest director Kim Hong Sun helms the drama, while Chuno and The Pirates screenwriter Chun Sung Il pens the script. Furthermore, the fact that it’s the first drama chosen by cinematographer Choi Young Hwa, who worked on hit films like Veteran and The Thieves, is certainly noteworthy.
Director Kim shared, “The unique material and the unexpected ending are attractive. My previous works are events-oriented stories, so I focused on keeping a subjective view of the actors. But for this work, I tried to objectively get immersed in the story and see the actors.”
About his comeback to the small screen after three years, Kim Rae Won said, “I had this vague fear about the fantasy genre. That’s why I refused the offers I got a few times before. But this project had writer Chun Sung Il, and I just loved The Guest.”
“The director is a master of such genres, so there wasn’t any reason I shouldn’t do this,” said Lee Da Hee, expressing her strong desire to work on projects with exciting genres.
She also heralded “adult romance,” saying, “The romance between us, it has this desperate feelings, but we can’t meet each other. But it won’t annoy you but make you feel sorry for us. That’s why I mentioned ‘adult romance.’ I talked a lot about how to express our emotions with Kim Rae Won.”
Meanwhile, LUCA will premiere on Feb 1 at 9 pm KST.
