Treasure Plans a Successful Year Ahead as they Receive GDA’s Rookie of the Year

YG Entertainment’s group Treasure has once again won the Rookie of the Year Award at the GDA, as they excited global fans.

They were awarded the Rookie of the Year trophy in the music category at the 35th Golden Disc Awards: with Curaprox which was held on the 10th.

Treasure’s leader Jihoon said, “It’s our first time participating in the GDA, and we’re delighted to receive such a valuable award.” He then thanked Treasure Makers (Treasure’s fandom) for always being there to support them.

As a group that targets the global music market, Yoshi expressed his feelings to fans in Japanese. He vowed, “We will always keep the meaning of this rookie award in our heart and stay humble to be a greater Treasure.”

Treasure demonstrated their outstanding capabilities once again through their GDA stage. They opened the stage with a piano version of “I Love You,” and performed their debut song “BOY,” which was rearranged with sophisticated sounds.

They also revealed “GOING CRAZY,” a song from their survival program “YG Treasure Box” for the first time at an award ceremony, as a gift to their fans.

The group worked hard for each awards ceremony as they present new choreographies and new versions of their remixed songs. This is possible due to their all-night practices, as they also make quick comebacks and release new songs almost every month.

The reaction to Treasure’s performance in the GDA was hot. Not only has their name topped the real-time search chart of a large portal site in Korea, but their related hashtags also trended on K-Pop Twitter.

Thanks to these performances, Treasure has been making remarkable achievements as they sweep the Rookie of the Year Awards at major awards ceremonies. Prior to this, Treasure was also the star of the Rookie of the Year award at the 2020 Asia Artist Awards and the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

In other news, Treasure will release their first full-length album THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT at 6 p.m. KST on the 11th. A total of 12 songs are included in the album, and Treasure will greet their fans first through Naver V LIVE’s ‘Countdown Party’ which starts at 4 p.m. on the same day.
