Wanna One is said to be in talks to attend and perform on “2020 MAMA.” But it seems like even the fans are not really agreeing with the idea.

According to CJ ENM, “2020 MAMA” production team planned and offered a joint performance of Wanna One. CJ ENM told Newsen that the group’s joint performance is under discussion but that nothing has been decided.

“MAMA” is a global music awards ceremony held by CJ ENM at the end of each year and will mark its 12th anniversary this year. This year’s ceremony will be held online on December 6.

About a month ago, five members of Wanna One (Lee Dae Hwi, Park Woo Jin, Park Ji Hoon, Ha Sung Woon, Kim Jae Hwan) reunited to perform at “KCON:TACT Season 2.” At the time, they said, “We are on the stage together for the first time in two years, and we’re excited and happy to be able to show you this meaningful performance,” and performed their fan song “Always” and “12th Star.”

However, public opinion on Wanna One’s joint stage on “2020 MAMA” is quite different. Some fans welcomed the news, saying that they can’t wait to see them all together, but most fans reacted otherwise. The prevailing opinion is that a joint performance of a group that already disbanded at a large music award ceremony, where the primary purpose is to honor K-pop artists who have made their mark over the past year, is not understandable.

In particular, they stressed that it’s highly inappropriate for CJ ENM to invite back a team formed through their controversial Produce series. It is also regrettable that the offer for their performance was made at a time when the trial on the alleged manipulation has not been completed. With all the members from Wanna One showing good performances as soloists or groups, fans are criticizing the organizers who planned the stage that even fans do not welcome.

Here are some of the reactions: “They really don’t know went to stop,” “I mean it’s not like they’re like god or H.O.T. They only broke up 2 years ago,” “Each member is doing just fine so don’t drag them into this mess,” or “This is gonna start a new war between fans.”
