On October 25, the K-pop scene celebrated two great pieces of news. BTS’s “Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)” MV surpassed 1 billion views, and a few hours later, BLAKCPINK’s latest smash “Lovesick Girls” garnered 200 million views.

The music video for “Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey),” the title track of MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA released in April 2019, surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube on October 24 at 11:12 p.m. KST. As a result, BTS decorated its career with its second music video with 1 billion views, following the title track “DNA.”

“Boy With Luv,” which drew keen attention with Halsey participating in the featuring, is a funk song about happiness and love. It describes how true strength and love come from finding joy in the smallest things in life. After debuting at No. 8 on Billboard Hot 100, the song stayed on the chart for 8 consecutive weeks, generating hot responses from music fans around the world.

Then on October 25, YG Entertainment announced that the music video for BLACKPINK’s “Lovesick Girls” surpassed 200 million views on YouTube as of 11:14 a.m. KST. This record was made only after 22 days and 22 hours. With this, the group now has more than 200 million views with every title track they dropped so far.

“Lovesick Girls” is a song that adds lyrical melodies and BLACKPINK’s powerful vocals on top of country-style guitar sounds, with Jisoo and Jenny taking part in writing and composing the song. Unlike previous music videos centered on performance, each member shows their own story, increasing the level of immersion.
