Since early 2020 in Thailand, tens of thousands of pro-democracy protestors have been calling for the resignation of the current prime minister and the reform of the Thai monarchy. However, the Thai government has resorted to using water cannons to disperse protests and crowds, inciting anger on news outlets and social media.
2PM’s Nichkhun, who is extremely popular and influential in Thailand, recently showed his support for the protestors and denounced the use of violence by the government through his Twitter.
Nichkhun told his 6.9 million followers that he could no longer “stand idly by” after the government’s use of violence. He then said, “The use of violence does not do anything. I hope that everyone will take care of themselves and stay safe.”

In just one day, his tweet was retweeted 45k times.
According to the Associated Press, numerous other celebrities from Thailand are speaking out against the government’s violent response to the protests.
