tvN’s New Journey to The West: Season 8 announced a glorious return.
New Journey to The West: Season 8, which premiered on Oct. 9 at 9:10 p.m. KST, marked a spectacular prelude. According to Nielsen Korea, the show’s first episode recorded an average of 5.3% ratings and soared up to 6.2% nationwide. The ratings of 2049, the key index of competitiveness, averaged 4.9% and 5.6% viewership across the country, and ranked first in the same time slot for all channels.
The show began with a heated conversation among all seven members, Kang Ho Dong, Lee Soo Geun, Eun Ji Won, Song Min Ho, Kyuhyun, and Pyo Ji Hoon. The perfect “tiki-taka” between them as they switched topics from being tardy and hidden cameras to members’ recent updates gave a big laugh.
The new games introduced also drew keen attention. Over the past 7 seasons, New Journey to The West has always presented new games, starting a new meme everywhere. This time, the production team ambitiously prepared two new games, “Vroom Vroom car game” and “SNS challenge game.”
With the first broadcast wrapped up in laughter, the second episode, which will air on Oct. 16, will feature a full-fledged “LAN Cable Cuisine.”
