Actors Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun confirmed their appearances in tvN’s new drama Queen Cheorin (literal translation).
On June 5, Queen Cheorin announced that Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun were cast as Kim So Yong and Chul Jong.
Shin Hye Sun will take on the role of Kim So Yong, a chef from the Blue House who gets trapped in the queen’s body in Joseon-era, challenging her first historical drama. Attention is rising rapidly for the return of Shin Hye Sun, who showed solid performances in various works, including Five Enough, My Golden Life, Thirty But Seventeen, The Hymn of Death, and Angel’s Last Mission: Love.
Kim Jung Hyun will play the role of Chul Jong, who seems gentle and easygoing Puppet monarch, but actually has a strong inner heart. Expectations are also high on how he will unravel the friendly yet sharp king of Joseon.
Besides Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun, Bae Jong Ok and Kim Tae Woo confirmed their roles as Queen Sun Won, the influential figure in the imperial power game, and power-hungry Kim Jwa Geun, Queen Sun-won’s younger brother.
In the production team of Queen Cheorin, director Yoon Sung Sik, best known for Hwarang, The Bridal Mask, and The King’s Face, writer Park Kye Ok, known for Inspiring Generation and Doctor Prisoner, and writer Choi Ah Il of film Lovers of Six Years have come together.
The drama will air on tvN, but no specific schedules have been confirmed yet.
