COVID-19 struck the movie industry again. According to reports made today, some members of the Alienoid production team have tested positive for COVID-19. Among them were Director Choi Dong Hoon, Kim Tae Ri and So Ji Sub.

On July 28th, the production company’s representative announced that Alienoid’s director and cast members tested positive for COVID-19. They further revealed that they would cancel the stage greetings on July 30th and 31st due to the spread of the virus.

The representative said, “After much discussion, we decided to cancel the stage greeting. It was not an easy decision to make as we wanted to greet our fans in person, but we came to such a decision to put the safety and wellbeing of everyone first. I would like to apologize to those who waited for the event. It was inevitable to make the decision to prevent the further spread of the virus. I ask for your kind understanding.”

Previously on July 27th, Alienoid’s stage greeting got canceled after director Choi Dong Hoon received a positive COVID-19 test result. All of the cast members then got checked, and So Ji Sub and Kim Tae Ri received positive results. Meanwhile, Kim Woo Bin and Ryu Jun Yeol tested negative.

Alienoid: Part One follows a group of Taoists from the Goryeo dynasty who mistakenly open a time portal in search of a legendary sword. The portal connects them to humans from 2022, who are tasked with finding an extraterrestrial prisoner locked in a human body. The movie received relatively poor reviews after its release and has attracted only 1.13 million spectators. The flick needs to sell more than 7 million tickets to break even.
