Choo Young Woo and Kim So Hyun are ready to fall in love this fall.
Disney Plus has set an October 5th premiere for Love Doctor (literal title), the upcoming romance starring the pair as two graduate students who meet in a robotics lab, while also releasing two mood teasers offering the first glimpse at their chemistry.
The series follows Min Jae (Choo), a doctoral student who was a competitive swimmer in high school before losing one of his legs to illness, and Yoo Jin (Kim), a master’s student who finds herself searching for a new path after her original career plans fall apart.
One teaser leans into the show’s autumn romance, with Min Jae and Yoo Jin sharing an umbrella in the rain. “That’s what you’re like the sun to me. You’re scorching hot,” Min Jae tells her, prompting Yoo Jin to reply, “You don’t have to worry about anything anymore.”
The second finds the pair sitting together at the back of a bus as Yoo Jin peppers him with questions: “Did you just suddenly miss me?” and “You like me that much? What do you like about me so much?”
Min Jae answers simply, “You’re pretty. You’re cute, and you’re kind.”
Choo plays Min Jae as a robotics researcher who found a new direction after being forced to give up his dream of swimming. Brilliant when it comes to logic and formulas but far less comfortable expressing his feelings, he finds himself opposite the much more emotionally direct Yoo Jin.
Kim’s Yoo Jin, meanwhile, is nearing the end of her undergraduate degree in clothing and textiles when she is branded a “troublemaker,” derailing her plans for graduate school. After meeting Min Jae, she joins his robotics lab and begins pursuing an unexpected new path.
Love Doctor marks the first pairing of Choo and Kim, with the series positioning their contrasting approaches to romance — his awkwardness and her willingness to go straight after what she wants — at the heart of the story.
The series is directed by Ahn Pan Seok, known for romances including Something in the Rain and One Spring Night, with Min Hyo Jung, whose credits include Cats on the Roof and Full House, writing the series.
Love Doctor premieres October 5th on Disney Plus, with new episodes released Mondays and Tuesdays.
