Recently, BLACKPINK’s Jennie appeared on an episode of the famous First We Feast YouTube series Hot One and she did more than eat flaming hot chicken wings- she delivered some spicy stories of her own that set the internet ablaze.
On June 19th, the video showcased Jennie trying an array of decadent chicken wings with various spicy sauces (including the spiciest and infamous level 10 “Wings of Death”). During the interview, Jennie spoke fondly of her bandmates while also discussing her solo career. From the rigorous trials and errors to meeting with unimaginable fame and success, Jennie gets teary-eyed and not just because of the spicy wings.
During the show, Jennie revealed how she had to battle tooth and nail to keep some of her most desirable songs on the Ruby album. When asked about what was something she worked hard on for her solo comeback, Jennie replied, “So many things,” and explained how her 15-track-strong solo album was an enormous challenge. “We didn’t have to forcefully make the music easy for people to like this album, I wanted to keep its core message. I really had to fight for songs… especially a song like ‘Zen,’ and the song ‘Starlight.’”
Jennie further emphasized how the album’s importance comes from its representation and artistic value, not whether or not it would be a hit and accrue mind-boggling sales numbers. Jennie engaged Blinks and ended the question stating, “I understand that it might not be the first thing that would pop up in people’s minds, but I knew that it would touch the people I wanna touch.”
Soon after trying her final Wings of Death, Jennie went on to give the most gut-wrenching reaction that had viewers in tears. She immediately began crying upon eating the spiciest wings saying through her tears, “Whatever Rosé and Lisa did, this is the real reaction. I watched your episodes and they were so chill about it (eating spicy wings) so I was like, if they’re doing it maybe I could do it too? But I can’t!” Where as the host praised Jennie stating “But you did! You ate the Wings of Death.”
Fans commended and applauded Jennie for taking on the challenge saying, “Her reaction is so real,” “Is she the member with the lowest spice tolerance in BP?” and “I wonder how all the members would be if they eat it together!”
