Jun Ji Hyun‘s management has responded to reports of a recent tax settlement, asserting the star’s complete compliance with tax regulations.
IEUM# told Sports Kyunghyang, “Jun Ji Hyun received confirmation in 2023 that all major items were properly handled through legal procedures during the tax audit.”
The rep further elaborated, “There was merely a difference in interpretation between the tax accountant and the National Tax Service regarding the method of expense processing for some items,” adding that “the additional tax payment of approximately 20 million KRW ($14,000) was made accordingly. This has absolutely nothing to do with any illegal activities.”
The statement comes in response to earlier reports claiming that the National Tax Service conducted an intensive tax investigation of the actress in September 2024, marking her second audit in less than a decade, with her previous one occurring in 2014.
The scrutiny was partially sparked by Jun’s real estate transaction in Seoul’s affluent Gangnam district. She purchased a five-story commercial building in Nonhyeon-dong for 8.6 billion KRW ($5.9 million) in 2007, later selling it for 23.5 billion KRW ($16.1 million) in 2021, netting a reported profit of 14.9 billion KRW. This substantial gain had raised questions about potential tax implications.
Meanwhile, Jun Ji Hyun is set to make her return to television in the upcoming Disney Plus series Tempest, scheduled to premiere later this year.
