The King’s Warden is continuing its historic box office run.

The Korean historical drama has officially surpassed 11 million moviegoers, cementing its status as one of the biggest hits of 2026. The film reached the milestone on March 8th, its 33rd day in theaters.

That pace matches the box office speed of blockbuster The Roundup: Punishment and is faster than other recent mega-hits such as Exhuma (40 days), 12.12: The Day (36 days), and Masquerade (48 days) in reaching the same milestone.

Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, the film tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily exiles himself to revive his struggling community and a young deposed king living in exile. The film’s emotional storytelling and powerful performances have earned widespread praise, with many calling it a weighty and moving historical drama.

Director Jang Hang Jun and the cast recently shared playful messages celebrating the milestone, inspired by a scene in the film where villagers hang wooden nameplates on a tree to show their bond.

Jang Hang Jun wrote, “Your Majesty! Thank you!” Yoo Hae Jin added, “The donkey has arrived!” Park Ji Hoon shared, “Thanks for all the love!”

Yoo Ji Tae wrote, “Ten million is real,” while Jeon Mi Do added, “A thousand thanks, ten thousand thanks.” Kim Min wrote, “It’s all thanks to you.” Lee Jun Hyuk and Ahn Jae Hong also expressed their excitement, writing “Nothing but gratitude” and “It feels like a dream.”

Audience reactions have been just as enthusiastic. One moviegoer wrote, “Applause for Yoo Hae Jin’s performance. I didn’t even realize Han Myong Hoe was Yoo Ji Tae. The transformation was incredible.” Another said, “The movie really stayed with me, so I already booked tickets to watch it again next weekend.”

Others shared similar experiences, including one parent who said they “cried through the movie with my teenage daughter, and she wants to watch it again tomorrow.”

With strong word of mouth fueling repeat viewings, The King’s Warden shows no signs of slowing down as it continues its impressive run in theaters.
