Netflix is seeing another global K-content moment, with its series The Art of Sarah and film Pavane both landing in the platform’s Global Top 10 for non-English titles.
The Art of Sarah rose to No. 1 on the Global Top 10 Non-English TV list in its second week, pulling in 10,000,000 views. The series—which follows Sarah Kim, who longs to become something extraordinary, even if it means living as a fake, and the man who tracks her down—also ranked No. 1 in 33 countries, including South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mexico, and Peru, and made the Top 10 in 65 countries overall.
Critics have praised the show’s layered storytelling. One outlet noted that the real draw isn’t just the crime elements, but “how a woman tries to rewrite her life,” while another described the series as a gripping look at “desire, identity and the truth we think we know.”
Viewers are also sharing glowing reactions, saying, “The show’s a must-watch. There’s hardly a single moment where the tension drops,” and “From the acting to the direction, editing, and production design, every element breaks away from the typical K-drama formula and delivers a much more powerful experience.”
Meanwhile, the film Pavane debuted at No. 7 on the Global Top 10 Non-English Films list just three days after release, reaching 2,000,000 views. The story follows three people who have closed themselves off from the world, only to find light in one another as they confront love and life.
Audiences have praised the film’s emotional depth, understated storytelling and striking visuals, as well as the performances from Go Ah Sung, Byun Yo Han and Moon Sang Min. Viewers described it as “a quiet, lingering comfort” and “a serenade for the youth pulled from the darkness,” with many noting how its emotional impact stays with them long after the final scene.
Adding to Netflix’s strong showing, the Single’s Inferno Reunion spinoff tied to Single’s Inferno Season 5 has remained on the charts for two consecutive weeks, underscoring the continued global appetite for Korean content.
