Two major K-pop stars have officially begun their mandatory military service today.
Kang Daniel and MONSTA X member I.M both entered training centers to begin basic military training on February 9th. Following this initial period, they will each serve as active-duty soldiers in the Army.
Kang Daniel, the breakout star who centered the project group Wanna One, bid a quiet farewell to fans. Before his enlistment, he participated in filming for a highly anticipated Wanna One reunion reality show, slated for release in the first half of this year.
Kang previously hinted to fans online, “I’ll be enlisting next year, so I might just be in the intro with you guys.” Mnet has confirmed the reunion project is underway, designed as a special gift for the fandom.
With his enlistment today, I.M becomes the last member of MONSTA X to fulfill his military duties.
I.M shared a heartfelt message through his agency, Starship Entertainment: “I was so happy to greet fans up close as we started our world tour recently, and I’m relieved to have made good memories before enlisting. I will return healthy. Until we meet again, please take care of your body and mind.”
While full-group activities are now paused, MONSTA X plans to continue engaging with fans through various content and the ongoing world tour schedule.
