DJ Koo, aka Koo Jun Yup of Clon, has quietly marked the first anniversary of his wife Barbie Hsu’s death by completing a memorial sculpture he personally designed in her honor.

Ahead of the anniversary on February 2nd, KBS’s Celebrities’ Secrets (literal title) released a video on January 29th titled “By her side, rain or snow: DJ Koo today,” offering a rare glimpse into his life since her passing.

According to the program, DJ Koo has stepped away from all public activities and has been visiting Barbie Hsu’s grave almost daily. The video shows him spending long hours at the site, paying his respects in silence.

One local resident shared, “He placed framed photos of her in front of the gravestone and kept playing videos of her on a tablet, just watching quietly.”

Taiwanese citizens expressed sympathy for his visible grief, noting how much he has changed. “It must be incredibly hard. I hope he stays strong,” one said, while another added, “He looked much thinner. He seemed very different from how he used to be.” DJ Koo is reported to have lost around 14 kilograms (about 31 pounds) since his wife’s passing.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese outlet ETtoday reported that the memorial sculpture designed by DJ Koo himself has been completed and will be officially unveiled on February 2nd, marking the first anniversary of Barbie Hsu’s death. The sculpture is installed at the ChinPaoSan Cemetery, New Taipei City.

The unveiling ceremony is expected to be a private gathering attended only by family members and close friends, with security present to maintain order. A source briefly commented, saying, “It is a private event, so we cannot share further details.”
