
Top celebrities, politicians and industry leaders are gathering to pay their final respects to Ahn Sung Ki.
The wake has been set up at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital Funeral Hall, where fellow actors Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung have been greeting mourners alongside the late star’s two sons. Jung Woo Sung has been at the wake the entire time, looking noticeably frail and exhausted.
A steady stream of high-profile figures visited to offer condolences, including Minister of Culture Choi Hwi Young, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon, and legendary singer Cho Yong Pil. The long list of actors paying tribute includes Jeon Do Yeon, Cha In Pyo, Go Ara, Song Seung Heon, Ha Ji Won, Kim Hye Soo, Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Jae Wook, Park Seo Joon, Ok Taecyeon and more.
The funeral procession will take place at 6 AM on January 9th. The ceremony will be organized by the Shin Young Kyun Arts and Culture Foundation and the Korea Film Actors Association to honor his immense contribution to Korean cinema.
Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung are expected to serve as pallbearers, accompanying the late actor on his final journey. He will be laid to rest at the Byeolgeurida cemetery in Yangpyeong.
Ahn Sung Ki passed away peacefully on the morning of January 5th after a long battle with blood cancer. He had been hospitalized since December 30th, following a sudden deterioration in his health that led to cardiac arrest. His eldest son reportedly flew back urgently from the United States on January 2nd to be by his side.
