Director Yeon Sang Ho has officially announced the 2026 theatrical release of his new film Colony, unveiling a gripping 30-second teaser that immediately positions the project as one of next year’s most anticipated releases.
Colony offers a chilling glimpse into a brand-new cinematic world from Yeon. The film is set inside a sealed building following a mysterious outbreak, where a group of isolated survivors must fight for their lives as the infected evolve in terrifying and unpredictable ways.
Colony marks Yeon Sang Ho’s latest feature following his acclaimed work on films like Train to Busan and The Ugly, as well as the hit Netflix series Hellbound. Known for blending high-concept storytelling with sharp social commentary, Yeon once again promises an intense, unsettling experience that pushes familiar survival horror into new territory.
Adding to the excitement is a powerhouse ensemble cast. Jun Ji Hyun makes her long-awaited return to the big screen for the first time in 11 years since Assassination, joined by Koo Kyo Hwan, Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hyun Bin, Kim Shin Rock, and Go Soo—a lineup that has already sparked major anticipation among fans.
The newly released teaser, which previously screened exclusively in theaters late last year, opens with a haunting line delivered by Kwon Se Jung, a biotech researcher played by Jun Ji Hyun, trapped inside the quarantined building with the infected. Suspense escalates as the camera cuts to Seo Young Cheol (Koo Kyo Hwan), whose unsettling expression hints that he may be closer to the heart of the mystery than he lets on.
From there, the teaser introduces a series of high-stakes moments: Choi Hyun Seok (Ji Chang Wook), the building’s security officer, throwing himself into battle against the infected; Gong Seol Hee (Shin Hyun Bin), struggling to unravel the truth behind the outbreak; Choi Hyun Hee (Kim Shin Rock), frozen in terror at the edge of catastrophe; and Han Gyu Seong (Go Soo), his fear palpable amid the chaos.
