IU and Byeon Woo Seok are teaming up for what already looks like a breakout TV romance.
MBC’s upcoming Friday–Saturday drama Perfect Crown, set to premiere in the first half of 2026, dropped a special teaser that hints at a bold, high-stakes love story. The series pairs Seong Hui Ju (IU), a billionaire heiress with everything but noble status, with Prince Ian (Byeon Woo Seok), a royal who will never be king.
Set in a 21st-century South Korea under a constitutional monarchy, Perfect Crown flips power and privilege on their heads. Hui Ju is rich, brilliant, and unapologetically confident—yet dismissed for being a commoner born out of wedlock. Ian is the king’s son, but his very existence makes him a political liability, leaving him sidelined and tightly controlled.

Buzz around the drama has been building since IU and Byeon Woo Seok appeared together as presenters at the 2025 MBC Drama Awards, where their easy chemistry immediately caught attention.
The teaser leans into Hui Ju’s fearless pursuit. She sets her sights on Prince Ian without hesitation, even proposing outright in a bid to change her status through marriage. Ian responds coolly at first, but Hui Ju keeps pushing forward, disarming him with persistence—and a blunt “I wanted to see you.”
Pressure mounts on Ian from Queen Dowager Yoon I Rang (Gong Seung Yeon), who urges him toward marriage to neutralize his threat to the throne. As sparks fly, the teaser closes on a decisive moment: Ian finally turns to Hui Ju and says, “Prepare to become the Grand Prince’s wife.”
With that line alone, Perfect Crown signals a romance built on ambition, power, and undeniable chemistry.
MBC’s Perfect Crown is slated to premiere in the first half of 2026.
