Two of Korea’s biggest stars, IU and Byeon Woo Seok, are teaming up early.
The lead actors of the highly anticipated upcoming series Perfect Crown (working title) have confirmed they will make a joint appearance at the 2025 MBC Drama Awards.
The duo will attend the ceremony as presenters, according to a report by News1 on December 21st. The event will be broadcast live on December 30th at 8:50 PM KST.
This marks the very first time the two actors will appear together in public since their casting news broke. Their joint appearance is expected to be the highlight of the night as the leads of MBC’s next flagship drama, offering fans a first glimpse of their visual chemistry before the drama’s official release next year.
Both actors are coming off massive years. IU recently solidified her status as an irreplaceable top star with her performance in the Netflix hit When Life Gives You Tangerines, while Byeon Woo Seok became a global sensation through Lovely Runner.
Perfect Crown is a romance set in a fictional modern-day South Korea that operates under a constitutional monarchy.
The story follows Seong Hee Joo (played by IU), a wealthy chaebol heiress who has everything except the social status she craves, and Lee Wan (Byeon Woo Seok), a King’s son who lacks of real power. The series will explore their journey as they forge their own destinies and overcome societal boundaries.
The ceremony will celebrate the network’s biggest hits of the year. Veteran host Kim Sung Joo, a fixture of the show since 2019, will return as MC, joined by actress Lee Sun Bin, the star of this year’s drama Let’s Go to the Moon.
The night will honor a strong lineup of 2025 dramas, including Motel California, Undercover High School, Crushology 101, Oh My Ghost Clients, and Moon River.
