Choo Young Woo and Shin Sia are set to deliver a gentle yet resonant emotional gift this Christmas.
The youth romance film Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight tells the story of Seo Yoon, a girl who loses her memory every single day, and Jae Won, the boy who fills those memories anew each morning. The film is based on Ichijo Misaki’s bestselling novel, which has sold over 1.3 million copies, and follows the success of its Japanese film adaptation. The Korean version now invites audiences to experience the story through a new emotional lens.
On December 22nd, the film held its press screening and press conference at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul, attended by Choo Young Woo, Shin Sia, and director Kim Hye Young.
Rather than grand gestures, the film leans into the beauty of ordinary love—one that feels familiar and universal. Many of Seo Yoon and Jae Won’s date scenes, set in arcades, karaoke rooms, and by the sea, were left largely to the actors’ instincts. “Most of the date scenes had almost no dialogue,” Shin Sia shared. “We improvised based on how we felt and filmed them as if we were really on a date, just enjoying the moment.”
Choo Young Woo plays Jae Won, Seo Yoon’s devoted boyfriend who patiently restores her memories each day. A longtime fan of both the original novel and the Japanese film, this project also marks his first big-screen debut. His character suffers from a heart condition, requiring a fragile, delicate presence. “I had gained weight up to 88 kilograms for my previous project,” Choo explained. “I lost about 14 kilograms for this role, but at first it wouldn’t come off easily, which was tough.”
The on-screen chemistry between Choo Young Woo and Shin Sia stood out as a key strength. Shin Sia recalled, “No matter what I did, he accepted it and helped draw out something new. I trusted that he would always catch me, which made filming really fun and comfortable.”
Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight opens in theaters on December 24th.
