The cast of the iconic K-drama Reply 1988 recently reunited for a heartwarming 10-year anniversary dinner, but all eyes were on former real-life couple Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol, who managed to attend the same event without crossing paths.
YouTube channel Fullmoon shared a video titled “Still the same after 10 years, the Ssangmun-dong family reunites” on December 11th. The footage featured the beloved cast gathering for a nostalgic dinner, delighting fans of the 2016 hit series.
However, sharp-eyed viewers quickly noticed that Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol were never seen together on screen. Despite both attending, their arrivals and appearances were carefully timed to ensure they didn’t bump into each other.
The former couple first met while filming Reply 1988 and went public with their relationship in 2017. They broke up in late 2023 after six years of dating.
Their split made headlines when it was revealed that Ryu Jun Yeol was dating Han So Hee shortly after. This sparked rumors of a rebound relationship, especially after Hyeri posted a now-infamous Instagram story with a photo and the caption, “This is interesting.”
The drama continued when Ryu and Han’s relationship ended just two weeks after they went public, with Han’s agency issuing a statement saying, “They agreed not to waste any more emotional energy on personal matters.”
Fans couldn’t help but comment on the “staggered attendance” at the Reply 1988 reunion.
