The police officer known as the real-life model for Ma Dong Seok’s character Ma Seok Do in the hit The Roundup franchise has been arrested for drunk driving.
According to a report by Newsis on the 25th, the Seoul Suseo Police Station booked Inspector A the previous night on charges of driving under the influence. Inspector A is accused of driving near Gangnam Severance Hospital in Seoul’s Gangnam District around 8:30 PM KST.
His blood alcohol level reportedly measured above 0.08%, the threshold for license revocation. No injuries were reported, and authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has suspended A from duty and launched an internal audit.
A had previously appeared on a TV variety program and gained attention as the real officer who dismantled the “Wanggeon” crime syndicate—a case dramatized in The Outlaws—the first installment of the franchise. He was widely known as the inspiration behind Ma Dong Seok’s on-screen persona, which helped propel the franchise’s popularity.
