Netflix’s As You Stood By has pulled off an unexpected comeback, rising to No. 1 on the streamer’s global TV charts after ranking eighth just a week earlier.
According to Netflix’s viewership report released on the 19th, the series logged 7.8 million views and 65 million hours watched between November 10th and 16th, topping the Non-English TV category. The No. 2 title was Last Samurai Standing, which recorded 6.2 million views and 31.7 million hours watched.
Released on November 7th, As You Stood By debuted at No. 8 during its first week (November 3rd–9th) with 2.3 million views and 19 million hours watched—making its jump to the top spot all the more striking.
The thriller follows two inseparable friends who plot to kill an abusive husband, unraveling a tense story of trauma, fear, and desperate resolve. Jeon So Nee plays Eun Soo, a woman scarred by childhood domestic violence, while Lee You Mi portrays Hee Soo, who has endured years of abuse in her marriage. The cast also includes Jang Seung Jo and Lee Moo Saeng. The series is a film adaptation of Japanese author Hideo Okuda’s 2014 novel Naomi and Kanako.
Two more Korean titles also charted in the same category this week: SBS’s drama Dynamite Kiss ranked third with 6.1 million views and 13.8 million hours watched, while Netflix’s competition show Physical: Asia placed eighth with 2.5 million views and 25.8 million hours watched.
