The 2020 box office hit Okay! Madam is officially returning with both familiar faces and new energy in its long-awaited sequel.
The film follows the family who once pulled off a daring rescue mission aboard a hijacked airplane as they receive a mysterious invitation to a luxury cruise liner—only to get swept into another round of unpredictable mayhem.
A surprise breakout hit of summer 2020, Okay! Madam makes its comeback five years later, now doubling down on action, visuals, and laughter. With the original cast returning alongside new additions, the sequel promises twice the fun and charm.
Leading the charge once again is Uhm Jung Hwa, reprising her role as the lovable action heroine Mi Young. After taking over an airplane in the first film, she’ll now conquer a cruise ship with her signature mix of heart and hilarity. Park Sung Woong also returns as her husband, former NIS agent Seok Hwan, while Lee Sang Yoon reprises his role as North Korean special agent Ri Chul Seung, and Bae Jung Nam is back as flight attendant Jung Hyun Min—together preserving the original chemistry fans loved.
Joining the cast this time are new faces to shake things up: Ryeoun takes on the role of a charming cruise magician, Park Jin Joo plays the ship’s guest services manager Sun Ah, and Choi Sooyoung appears as Anya, the mysterious figure who invites Mi Young’s family aboard—setting off a fresh wave of chaos and intrigue.
The first table read was held on October 10th, where the cast and crew came together with renewed passion and teamwork. Director Lee Cheol Ha, who also helmed the first film, commented, “Despite being released during the pandemic, Okay! Madam received tremendous love. With Okay! Madam 2, we’ll combine the strength of our seasoned team to make an even more entertaining movie.”
Uhm Jung Hwa added, “This is my first project to become a series, and it’s such an honor. I’ll give my all again—with no holding back—to deliver another round of action-packed comedy.”
Meanwhile, Okay! Madam 2 has been selected as the first major title under CGV’s new direct investment and distribution initiative, marking the theater chain’s bold step into film production as part of its strategy to revitalize the domestic film industry.
The film officially began shooting on October 16th and is now in production.
