Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team has issued a strong rebuttal against the family of the late Kim Sae Ron and YouTuber Kim Se Eui of Hoverlab (aka Garosero Institute), accusing them of fabricating evidence and manipulating public opinion.
On October 27th, attorney Ko Sang Rok of Law Firm Pil, who represents Kim Soo Hyun, released a statement through YouTube and social media, claiming the controversy began when Kim Se Eui spread false claims based on a forged statement attributed to the late actress. “They created a false narrative and used it to sway public sentiment,” Ko said.
Ko alleged that photos and messages were doctored to suggest Kim Soo Hyun had dated Kim Sae Ron when she was underage. “They edited photos taken when she was an adult to make them appear like evidence of a teenage relationship,” he explained, noting that Kim Se Eui had boasted of “thousands of photos” but failed to produce one. He also said ordinary letters from Kim’s military service were falsely presented as “evidence of grooming.”
The attorney added that chat messages were fabricated, sender names forged, and adult-day images altered to look like those of a minor—all for personal gain. “After her passing, they colluded to revive lies she never voiced, using her name as a shield,” Ko stated. “This is an egregious act exploiting someone who can no longer defend herself.”
Ko further accused those involved of using Kim Sae Ron’s name to solicit donations and boost their profiles. “At its core, this case is about evidence tampering—a large-scale fraud built on forged materials that destroyed an innocent person’s reputation,” he said.
The late actress’s family, through Hoverlab, has claimed Kim Soo Hyun dated her from late 2015 to mid-2021, while Kim’s side insists their relationship began only after she became an adult—from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020.
