Lee Jun Young and Yu Aoi are turning heads with their breathtaking chemistry in the upcoming Japanese film Tokyo Taxi.
On October 16th, behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot were released, showing the two actors sharing a graceful dance in a vintage ballroom setting. The elegant two-shot quickly drew attention online for its natural connection and striking visuals.
According to production staff, Lee Jun Young spent an entire day training with a dance coach prior to filming, rehearsing steps and coordinating movements with Yu to perfect the sequence.
When director Yoji Yamada teasingly remarked, “There’s a kiss scene with Yu-chan,” Lee reportedly turned bashful and flustered — but once the cameras started rolling, his focus shifted completely, transforming him into the scene’s romantic lead.
Tokyo Taxi marks director Yamada’s 91st film, a Japanese remake of the acclaimed 2022 French hit Driving Madeleine. Set in modern-day Tokyo, the film portrays the city’s evolution alongside touching stories of reflection, forgiveness, and small everyday miracles.
The star-studded cast includes Takuya Kimura, Chieko Baisho, Yu Aoi, and Takaya Sakoda, with Lee Jun Young joining as a key character—a young Korean man named Kim Young Gi, the first love of Sumire (Baisho Chieko, Yu Aoi).
Tokyo Taxi will mark Lee Jun Young’s official debut in the Japanese film industry, expanding his growing global career. The film is set to premiere nationwide in Japan on November 21st.
