Choi Hyun Wook’s agency, Gold Medalist, has officially apologized after the actor faced backlash for his controversial first pitch at a KBO playoff game.
In a statement released on Monday, the agency said, “Choi Hyun Wook feels a deep sense of responsibility for what happened after the first pitch event. He takes this matter seriously and apologizes to everyone who was present at the scene.”
They continued, “We sincerely apologize to the child batter and their guardian, who must have been startled by what happened.” Gold Medalist confirmed that they contacted the guardian through the baseball club and personally delivered Choi’s handwritten apology, which was accepted with understanding.
The agency added, “We acknowledge our lack of attention in managing and coordinating the event. We’ll review our internal process to prevent a similar issue from happening again.”
The incident occurred on the 9th at Incheon’s SSG Landers Field, where Choi threw a fast pitch toward a child batter during a ceremonial opening, sparking public criticism over his conduct.
