Park Gyu Young opened up about her debut journey—and her dramatic weight loss—while appearing on comedian Park Na Rae’s YouTube show “Naraesik,” uploaded on September 24th.

Park recalled being scouted by JYP Entertainment while studying at Yonsei University, which launched her into the entertainment industry. Despite her “pure” image, she described herself as a workout enthusiast: “Instead of eating breakfast after waking up, I just drink coffee and work out. I mostly do weights—I’ve practically mastered back training. I even built up my lats, but then my back started looking too muscular, so I stopped.”

She explained that this training also tied into her upcoming project Mantis, where she bulked up to play a killer. “Even now, some of those lines remain,” she noted.

When Park Na Rae remarked that she looked like she had been “born skinny,” Park clarified,”In school, I actually weighed about 15 kilos more than now.” She added, “After debuting, I wanted to wear pretty clothes and look sharper on screen, so I lost weight.”

Looking ahead, Park confessed she’s longing for a change of pace. “These days, I really want to do melodramas and romance. I’ve killed so many people on screen. In the next project, I want to talk pretty, share feelings, and fall in love.”

Over the years, she has already shared the screen with some of Korea’s biggest leading men, including Lee Jin Wook, Seo Kang Joon, Cha Eun Woo, Lee Jong Suk and Yim Si Wan. Asked which co-star was the most handsome, the actress didn’t hesitate: Cha Eun Woo. “Every time I see him, I think, ‘Mr. Most Handsome Guy in the Universe.’ I never get used to his looks.”
