Kim Go Eun addressed why she became so emotional during the recent press conference for Netflix’s You and Everything Else, shedding light on the personal experiences that brought her to tears.

The drama follows Eun Joong (Kim Go Eun) and Sang Yeon (Park Ji Hyun), two women bound as both best friends and rivals across their lives. Kim portrays Ryu Eun Joong, who accompanies Sang Yeon to Switzerland to support her in choosing assisted death.

“In the drama, Eun Joong travels with Sang Yeon for her assisted death. In that moment, I remembered her promise and the time she spent sorting through the life they shared,” Kim explained. “Thinking about whether Sang Yeon’s death might leave unbearable pain for Eun Joong overwhelmed me, and that’s why I cried so much at the event.”

The actress also connected the storyline to her own life. “In 2023, I lost one of my closest friends,” she shared. “Strangely, the two projects I filmed that year—’Love in the Big City’ and ‘You and Everything Else’—were both about the friendships of your twenties.”

When asked if she herself would accompany a loved one in a similar situation, Kim didn’t hesitate: “I think I would go.” She went on to recall her late grandmother, with whom she lived for six years in her thirties. Kim recounted keeping vigil at the hospital for three days and nights, only to fall asleep and miss her grandmother’s final moment—a memory that still lingers.
