Kim Yoo Jung is set to reveal a chilling new side of herself in TVING’s upcoming original series Dear X, which just dropped a tense, spine-tingling teaser.
Dear X follows Baek Ah Jin (Kim Yoo Jung), a woman who dons a mask to escape her own private hell and climb to the very top, leaving a trail of “X”s in her wake. Behind the glamorous façade of Korea’s biggest actress lies a violent, manipulative truth. Her fate intertwines with Yoon Jun Seo (Kim Young Dae), who chooses hell itself to protect her.
The project has already generated buzz after screening its first two episodes at the 30th Busan International Film Festival, where it was named one of the most anticipated titles of the year. The series is helmed by hitmaker Lee Eung Bok (Sweet Home, Mr. Sunshine, Goblin, Descendants of the Sun) alongside director Park So Hyun, with a script from award-winning writer Choi Ja Won and the original webtoon creator Ban Ji Woon.
The teaser captures Ah Jin’s descent into extremes—from the dazzling red-carpet actress in a glamorous gown declaring, “I want to be reborn at the highest peak,” to the broken schoolgirl with empty eyes and swirling rumors of cruelty. Whispered accusations—“She plays the model student, but steals money behind closed doors,” “All that pity and weakness you put on is fake,” and even “She’s a demon in human skin”— hint at a terrifying past.
In one chilling moment, Ah Jin sneers, “Now do you want to kill me?” with a twisted grin, exposing the madness behind the mask. The teaser also highlights the fates of Yoon Jun Seo and Kim Jae Oh (Kim Do Hoon), both trapped in Ah Jin’s orbit. Her provocative line, “How far would you go for me?” raises the stakes even further. The tagline, “May your ruin be my salvation,” leaves a haunting aftertaste.
Based on the globally popular webtoon of the same name, Dear X has fueled intense anticipation since Kim Yoo Jung’s casting was first announced. As Baek Ah Jin, she takes on one of her most daring transformations yet: a woman hardened by childhood scars, clawing her way to the top while mastering the art of manipulation.
Dear X premieres November 6th on TVING.
