Son Ye Jin is giving fans a rare glimpse into her day-to-day life with husband Hyun Bin.
Appearing as a guest on Jung Jae Hyung’s YouTube channel “Fairy Jae Hyung” on September 21st, the actress spoke honestly about how her relationship has evolved since tying the knot.
Reflecting on how their bond began, Son recalled their first collaboration on the 2018 film The Negotiation. “Actors really separate work and private life, but during ‘The Negotiation’ we found so many things in common. We’re the same age, we debuted around the same time, even our parents are of similar ages. There was so much we could understand about each other without even saying it. I was comfortable around him because he showed me his true self,” she said.
But once their son entered the picture, Son admitted everything shifted. “Raising a child changes everything. When we were dating or newly married, I used to look up recipes and try every dish. These days, the baby comes first. I’ll give our son his meal, and then I’ll hand my husband the leftover yukjeon (pan-fried beef pancakes). He’ll laugh and say, ‘Wow, I can’t remember the last time I ate this,’” she shared with a smile.
Son also acknowledged the common struggles couples face. “I’ve heard many couples fight about things like that. My husband might feel disappointed, but he never shows it—he just understands, and I’m grateful for that.”
When Jung complimented their son’s looks, saying, “It’s in his DNA—you and Hyun Bin both have beautiful faces,” Son laughed and replied, “Thank you.” She added, “Usually people say, ‘I hope the baby looks like my husband’ or ‘I hope the baby looks like my wife.’ But for us, we both say, ‘I want him to look like me.'”
Son admitted she wasn’t always drawn to children, making motherhood all the more surprising. “I was never the type to coo over babies. When moms said, ‘The best thing I’ve ever done is give birth,’ I used to think, ‘Oh, sure,’ but never truly understood. I wasn’t someone who naturally adored kids. But now, with my own child, it’s something I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. The love you feel is truly unconditional.”
