Ong Seong Wu shared a candid story about his close friendship with fellow actor Shin Ye Eun—and how one playful argument unexpectedly ended in tears.
The actor appeared on the September 17th episode of MBC’s talk show Radio Star, alongside Jung Bo Seok, singer Lee Seok Hoon, and WOODZ.
Looking back on filming JTBC’s 2020 romance drama More Than Friends, Ong revealed how his bond with Shin Ye Eun deepened during a month-long shoot in Jeju Island. “We got so close that we would bicker like friends,” he recalled. “One time over dinner, we started arguing about something silly—like, ‘You did that first!’—until it escalated.”
He continued, “I finally said, ‘Forget it, just stop talking,’ but suddenly Ye Eun started crying. I panicked and told her, ‘Why are you crying? I’m sorry.’ She said, ‘It’s okay to argue when you’re angry, but how can you just cut me off mid-sentence?’”
Ong admitted he regretted the slip. “I interrupted her because I got too worked up. I shouldn’t have done that. I apologized first, and now we’re still good friends.”
Ong Seong Wu first rose to fame on Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017, debuting as a member of Wanna One. Transitioning to acting, he has headlined dramas such as At Eighteen (2019), More Than Friends (2020), and Strong Girl Nam-soon (2023). Most recently, he took the stage in the production of Shakespeare in Love, playing the iconic role of William Shakespeare.
