Kim Woo Bin and Suzy are about to face off in a dangerous game of wishes.
Netflix has released the main trailer for Genie, Make a Wish, its upcoming fantasy romantic comedy premiering worldwide on October 3rd, just ahead of the Chuseok holiday. The series reunites Kim Woo Bin and Suzy, alongside a cast that includes Ahn Eun Jin, Noh Sang Hyun, Ko Kyu Pil, and Lee Joo Young.
The drama follows Genie (Kim Woo Bin) with a demonic streak who awakens after a thousand years, and Ga Young (Suzy), a human entirely devoid of emotion. Traditionally, Genie has corrupted mortals through the lure of three wishes—but Ga Young proves to be his most unpredictable master yet.
The trailer teases their volatile dynamic: Genie’s endless chatter and temptations irritate Ga Young, who refuses to be swayed by free wishes. Instead, she flips the rules, proposing a life-or-death wager—a best-of-five showdown. If Genie can prove his creed that “in one way or another, all humans end up corrupt,” she promises to make her three wishes and even let him take her life.
From there, the relationship between the two begins to evolve in unexpected ways. Once hurling insults and shoving each other, they’re later seen sharing a passionate kiss and waltzing through time and space. The tension escalates further when Su Hyun (Noh Sang Hyun), a “death angel” who hopes for righteous wishes, confronts Genie for the first time in centuries. Ga Young’s sudden tears and Genie’s flashes of rage suggest deeper stakes, while glimpses of others holding the lamp raise questions.
Screenwriter Kim Eun Sook promised an emotional payoff: “’Genie, Make a Wish’ introduces a host of characters swayed by Genie’s temptations and their many wishes. Following their stories will ultimately lead to both a lingering resonance and a storm of emotion.”
Genie, Make a Wish launches globally on October 3rd on Netflix.
