Jeon Jong Seo shared her thoughts about returning to Canada for the premiere of Project Y at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.
On September 12th, Jeon Jong Seo and her co-star Han So Hee sat down for a talk at the festival. Jeon, who studied abroad in Canada during middle school and still has family living there, reflected on how meaningful the trip has been.
“I used to live in Canada,” she explained. “I was really hoping to see my family, and they were able to come to the premiere yesterday, so we met.”
She also expressed deep gratitude for her co-star, Han So Hee, who is currently in the middle of a fan meeting tour. “Han So Hee is in the middle of a fan meeting tour right now, so I’m so grateful she came despite all that. She even came when she wasn’t feeling well,” Jeon said. “I’m just so thankful; that’s all I can say. Today is our last schedule here, and seeing the full audience makes me so happy.”
In a more lighthearted moment, she joked about the Toronto weather. “Isn’t Toronto cold?” she laughed, holding up a hand warmer. “My manager had to go out and buy an electric blanket for my hotel room.”
Project Y, which was officially invited to screen in TIFF’s prestigious Special Presentations section, is a crime drama directed by Lee Hwan. The film follows two friends, Mi Sun (Han So Hee) and Do Kyung (Jeon Jong Seo), who have nothing but each other. They decide to escape their dead-end lives by stealing a hidden stash of black-market money and gold bars, setting off a dangerous chain of events.
