Lee Soo Hyuk may be starring opposite Suzy in the highly anticipated fantasy romance drama, Men of the Harem.
On August 26th, industry insiders reported that the actor was offered a lead role, and his agency, Saram Entertainment, confirmed he is “positively considering the offer.”
Based on a popular web novel, the series is a historical fantasy about an empress named Latil (the role offered to Suzy) who builds a harem of male consorts to protect her empire.
The project comes from a powerhouse creative team: it will be directed by Lee Eung Bok, the mastermind behind global hits like Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Descendants of the Sun and the Sweet Home series. The script is penned by Hwang Jin Young, the writer of the acclaimed drama My Dearest. Production is being handled by the industry giant Studio Dragon.
The role would be another major step for Lee Soo Hyuk, who has been steadily building his international presence. His recent series S-Line was officially invited to the Cannes International Series Festival, and he continues to connect with his overseas fanbase with events like an upcoming fan meeting in China. He also recently received the Most Popular Korean Artist Award at a Weibo awards ceremony held in Thailand.
