The highly publicized legal battle involving Kim Soo Hyun and the family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron is now headed to South Korea’s National Forensic Service (NFS).
On May 20th, the Seoul Eastern District Court granted a real estate seizure request filed by medical device company CLASSYS, which had previously hired the actor as the face of their skincare product Volnewmer. The court ordered the seizure of his luxury apartment at Galleria Fore in Seoul, tied to a claim of 3 billion KRW (approx. $2.2 million USD).

Attorney Bang Seong Hoon from LKB & Partners, Kim’s legal representative, confirmed the seizure but emphasized that Kim is a victim in what he describes as a fabricated smear campaign by YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute, aka Hoverlab. “The current situation arose from their false claim that Kim Soo Hyun exploited the late Kim Sae Ron while she was underage,” Bang stated. “But instead of targeting the real offenders, blame is falling on the victim because of contractual ties.”
Arguing that the so-called “evidence” presented by Hoverlab—audio recordings, text messages, and images—was fabricated, Bang maintains that once the objective truth is confirmed through investigation and legal accountability is enforced against Hoverlab and others involved, advertisers will have no grounds to pursue lawsuits.
“The analysis report they submitted was conducted by a private company. We’ve requested the National Forensic Service to determine whether any manipulation took place,” he explained.
In addition to CLASSYS, Kim Soo Hyun is also facing damage claims totaling roughly 3.3 billion KRW from three other advertisers. In response, his fans have launched a boycott movement against the companies involved.
