It’s been revealed that G-Dragon received a massive signing bonus when he left YG Entertainment and joined his new agency, Galaxy Corporation.
Galaxy Corporation signed an exclusive contract with G-Dragon in November 2023, offering him 10 billion won ($7.2 million) in cash and another 10 billion won in stock options, Chosun Biz reported on June 9th.
The label’s estimated value then was around 470 billion won ($337 million). G-Dragon reportedly accepted half of his signing bonus as stock options, showing confidence in the company’s future growth.
Galaxy Corporation is currently preparing for a KOSDAQ listing, and investors now estimate the company’s value at around 1 trillion won ($720 million). If the listing successfully goes through, G-Dragon’s assets could see a major boost.
Galaxy Corporation describes itself as an “entertech” company, blending entertainment with technology through AI, the metaverse, IP and media. Unlike traditional entertainment agencies, it focuses on next-generation technologies and global IP expansion.
When announcing the signing, Galaxy Corporation said, “Our relationship with G-Dragon goes beyond that of an artist and agency. We’re partners. Together, we plan to take on bold, unprecedented challenges, even those once thought impossible. With a pioneering spirit, we’ll also strive to reveal new sides of G-Dragon that fans have never seen before.”
