Disney Plus has officially confirmed Goldland for a global exclusive release in 2026—and it’s bringing a powerhouse lineup to the screen.

The new original series follows Kim Hee Ju (Park Bo Young), a seemingly ordinary airport security agent who unexpectedly comes into possession of smuggled gold bars from a criminal syndicate. As greed and betrayal swirl around her, Hee Joo finds herself consumed by a desperate desire to claim the gold for herself.

Park Bo Young anchors the series with a bold transformation in the role of Kim Hee Ju, a security screening officer at an international airport who gets caught up in an illegal gold smuggling case. The actress dives into darker territory this time. “I was drawn to the opportunity to try a new genre,” she said. “The process of Hee Ju, who initially seemed uninterested in gold, being consumed by human nature and desire, will be portrayed compellingly,”

Joining her is Kim Sung Cheol as Jang Wook, a low-level member of a shady loan shark ring known as Wugi. After discovering that Hee Ju has the missing gold, he inserts himself into her life under the guise of helping—but every glance and gesture hints that he’s ready to pounce. “There’s so much to unpack with this character,” Kim said. “I think I’ll be able to show a new side of myself, and I’m excited to build chemistry with Bo Young.”

Lee Hyun Wook portrays Lee Do Kyung, Hee Ju’s ex-boyfriend and a commercial airline co-pilot who pulls her into the smuggling ring. His ambiguous relationship with Hee Ju—does he truly care, or is she just a pawn?—adds another layer of tension to the story. Also starring is Kim Hee Won as Kim Jin Man, a hard-nosed detective. Moon Jeong Hee plays Hee Joo’s mother, Yeo Sun Ok, with a love-hate mother-daughter dynamic.

Lastly, Lee Kwang Soo takes on the role of Director Park, who oversees Geumseong, the shadowy lower-level operation of the hotel casino Goldland. “The script was interesting enough for anyone, regardless of age or gender, to enjoy,” said Lee. “Every character feels alive, and I’ve been diving deep into how to bring that out onscreen.”

Goldland brings together director Kim Sung Hoon, known for his stylish direction in Confidential Assignment and Chief Detective 1958, and screenwriter Hwang Jo Yoon, who previously wrote Masquerade and Old Boy. The series will stream exclusively on Disney Plus in 2026.
