Ahead of the June 11th premiere of The First Night With the Duke, Seohyun and Ok Taecyeon gave fans a sneak peek into their on-screen chemistry through a pictorial and interview in the June issue of Esquire Korea. The photos show the duo’s undeniable chemistry remains intact even after wrapping filming in March.
Seohyun, who’s long wanted to try romantic comedy, shared, “Before I even got the casting offer, a friend recommended the original webtoon to me. When I found out I’d be part of a project I already enjoyed, it felt like fate.” She added, “I kept wanting to get more laughs on set. I spent a lot of time thinking up ad-libs.”

Ok Taecyeon, returning to historical drama after a while, said, “I had never done sword-based action before, and I finally got to try it through this project. There were definitely parts I struggled with, but I was amazed by how cool the final cut turned out.”
The actor also revealed that he was drawn to his character’s—Prince Gyeongseong—bulldozer-like determination when it comes to love, noting that his straightforward approach to romance convinced him to join the project.
When asked about the most memorable scene to shoot, both actors pointed to their ‘first night” scene. The moment is pivotal to the plot, and both cast and crew spent a lot of time preparing for it. Ok Taecyeon recalled, “I remember what the cinematographer told us that day—since we’re both idol-trained, it looked like we were dancing. He said we moved gracefully like butterflies.”
