Son Heung Min recently celebrated a milestone and emotional moment in his long-running soccer career. However, the superstar faces backlash due to a blackmail scandal and long-time friend Park Seo Joon is now facing criticism as well.
On May 22nd, KST, Son Heung Min, the Tottenham Hotspur captain, won his first major club trophy by winning the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League. It is also the club’s first silverware in seventeen years. Netizens were surprised by Park Seo Joon’s sudden appearance and videos of them cheering and jumping up and down were unexpected as well. Viewers commented that it is brave to appear alongside Son despite his blackmail scandal. A woman who claimed to be pregnant by Son and extorting him for 300 million won (approximately $215,000). Son paid the fee but was approached later again for more money and the story was soon leaked as punishment for failing to pay.
Despite the situation, Park Seo Joon and Son Heung Min are known for having a long term friendship. In the Sonsetional 2019 documentary, Son Heung Min had spoken fondly of Park stating that, “He is always on my side, no matter what.” Fans wondered if the case further escalated how it could harm Park Seo Joon and that they should consider each other’s careers and livelihoods before something bad happens.
