Genie TV original Tastefully Yours has cooked up a surprise hit after landing on global streaming giant Netflix.

According to FlixPatrol, Tastefully Yours ranked second globally in the TV show category as of May 15th. By expanding beyond its limited domestic distribution and entering the global OTT arena, the show has significantly boosted accessibility and viewer reach.

Previously, Genie TV originals were only available through ENA and Genie TV platforms, largely accessible only to KT subscribers. Adding to the frustration, distribution strategies often varied by title, with some projects being locked into exclusive channels. Series like The Midnight Studio, Your Honor, Dear Hyeri, and Namib received positive buzz for their quality but left viewers disappointed due to limited availability, being confined solely to ENA and Genie TV. This Netflix release is the first since the Kim Tae Hee and Lim Ji Yeon drama 2023 series Lies Hidden in My Garden.

But things will be different this year. Unlike last year’s exclusivity strategy, all new releases are available across multiple streaming platforms. Mother and Mom and New Recruit 3 are now streaming on TVING, while Tastefully Yours is available globally via Netflix. An ENA official told Edaily on the 15th, “We’ve completely revamped our distribution strategy. We plan to expand our reach by making Genie TV content available not just on our platform but across various OTT services.”

KT announced this distribution revamp during its media day event in April, outlining three key strategies: simultaneous releases across OTT platforms, strengthening the KT brand, and expanding global content reach.

While the company has yet to ink exclusive partnerships with any single OTT channel, a KT representative emphasized that “all options are open.” They added, “We’ll continue collaborating with domestic and global streaming platforms to deliver great content and enhance our competitive edge.”
