A woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s have been arrested for attempting to extort large sums of money by falsely claiming that the woman was pregnant with soccer star Son Heung Min’s child.
Police are currently investigating whether the suspects directly targeted Son and are focusing on the details of the alleged scheme.
Son, who recently returned to the Premier League after recovering from a foot injury, filed a police report stating he had been subjected to ongoing threats and blackmail.
Son’s legal team filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station on May 7th, alleging that the woman, referred to as ‘A,’ attempted to extort money by threatening to spread false rumors that she was pregnant with Son’s child.
A man in his 40s was also reported to have approached Son’s side in March with similar threats and has been accused of attempted blackmail and extortion.
Son Heung Min’s agency, Son & Football Limited, released an official statement on May 15th. “Son is clearly the victim,” the agency stated. We’ve filed a complaint against individuals who have been threatening him. We will provide updates as the investigation continues.”
The agency added, “We will take strong legal action and make sure those responsible are held accountable. Son Heung Min is the victim here.”
