Netflix’s new original series Tangeum is set to captivate audiences. A press conference for the show was held on May 13th at the Ramada Hotel in Seoul.
Premiering on May 16th, Tangeum is a mystery romance historical drama that follows Hongrang (played by Lee Jae Wook), the long-lost son of Joseon’s largest merchant clan. After disappearing, he returns 12 years later with no memory of who he is. Only his half-sister Jae Yi (played by Jo Bo Ah) suspects something is off.
Jung Ga Ram plays Moo Jin, who has spent those 12 years as the adopted son of the merchant clan in Hongrang’s place. Uhm Ji Won stars as Min Yeon, the mistress of the clan; Park Byung Eun portrays Shim Yeol Guk, the clan’s leader and the biological father of both Hongrang and Jae Yi; and Kim Jae Wook plays Grand Prince Hanpyeong, a Joseon royal known for his exceptional artistic eye.

Lee Jae Wook, who showcases stylish action in this project, shared, “It was unlike anything I’d done before. The stunt director designed really stylish sequences, and I remember spending a lot of time practicing them.”
Jo Bo Ah, reflecting on her role as Jaei, said, “I had to clearly separate my feelings toward my younger brother Hongrang and the Hongrang who returned, a man I’m inexplicably drawn to. It was challenging, but I worked hard to distinguish those emotions.”
This marks Jo Bo Ah’s first project since getting married. She shared, “We spent a long time filming, and after an equally lengthy post-production, it’s finally here. I’m extra nervous, thrilled, and a bit anxious because of how much went into it. I truly hope everyone looks forward to it and gives it lots of love.”
When asked about Knock-Off, she declined to comment on the issue. Knock-Off is her previously planned comeback series on Disney Plus that was indefinitely postponed last month due to controversy surrounding lead actor Kim Soo Hyun.

Back on the topic of Tangeum, Lee Jae Wook praised Jo Bo Ah, saying, “She’s an incredible partner who conveys emotions so delicately. I could follow her lead and really dive into my role.”
Jo Bo Ah returned the compliment, noting, “Jae Wook’s attitude on set is amazing. His genuine passion for acting, the project, and his character is inspiring. I learned so much from him.”
Jung Ga Ram joins the duo as Mujin. He shared, “When Hongrang returns, everything my character had planned starts to fall apart. The emotions shift in many ways as the story unfolds, and I focused on capturing that journey.” He added, “This is my first time doing a historical drama, and it was an honor to work with such amazing actors and directors.”
