Nam Tae Hyun, a former member of the K-pop group WINNER, has been booked by police for driving under the influence while still serving a suspended sentence for a previous drug offense.

The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul confirmed on May 8th that Nam was booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act. According to police, the incident occurred around 4:10 AM on April 27th near the Dongjak Bridge on the Gangbyeon Expressway, heading toward Ilsan. He reportedly crashed into the median while attempting to overtake another vehicle.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Nam’s blood alcohol level was reportedly high enough to warrant license cancellation, exceeding 0.08%.

Police applied for an arrest warrant on May 2nd, but the court dismissed it during a warrant hearing held on May 7th, citing insufficient grounds for detention. Authorities plan to forward the case to the prosecution without detention.

Nam Tae Hyun was previously sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year probation period in August 2022 for using methamphetamine with his then-girlfriend. He was also fined 6 million KRW ($4,287) in 2023 for a separate DUI offense.
